Each student needs to bring three AA batteries, which will be used in their AlphaSmarts throughout the year. These are due by this Friday, September 11th. Thank you.

Here’s what we’ll be Learning This Week:

Bible – This week we will be doing lesson 5, which is still about Joseph, focusing on the theme of forgiveness this time. Our memory verse for the week is Ephesians 4:32, which says, Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Please help your child memorize the verse by Friday.

Language Arts – How and why should we balance our reading diets? We’ll discuss that this week, along with what makes some seed stories work better than others. Students will work on expanding one of their seed stories and practicing their penmanship.

Spelling – This week’s list is Sort 28.

Math – The emphasis for this week is on using the distributive property, estimating products, and multiplying by one- and two-digit numbers.

Science – Students will learn more about the skeletal, muscular, nervous, and excretory systems.

Social Studies – We’re starting Chapter 4: Life in the Colonies. This week we’ll learn about the three colonial categories: the New England, Middle, and Southern Colonies. We’ll begin by focusing particularly on the New England colonies.
