|Bible||Books of the Old Testament: Judges and Ruth
Part of our Bible time this week will be spent on T.H.I.N.K. Each
day we will cover a letter that stands for an important part of
digital citizenship. These lessons are designed to help prepare
your child to become a moral and ethical citizen of the digital
world. Part of their homework this week will be sharing with you what they learned. Please use this time to discuss the day’s word
and how it applies to your child.
Monday– Trustworthy: Not everything on the internet is trustworthy.
Tuesday– Helpful: Not everything on the internet is helpful.
Wednesday– Inspiring: The internet can be used to help people.
Thursday– Necessary: Use your time on the internet wisely. Only
do the necessary things (emphasis on emailing)
Friday– Kind: Kindness counts, especially on the internet.
|Phonics/Grammar||Students will finish their spellings analysis of words containing the phonemes introduced last week. We will also take a closer look at adverbs and their purpose.|
|Reading Workshop||We will complete our list of strategies for problem solving tricky words. Students will use these strategies during their independent reading time.|
|Writing Workshop||Students will be writing opinion paragraphs independently. The trait of ideas will be introduced. Students will discover good writers have a clear main message and several details that support it.|
|Math||Last week, we started looking at Place Value as well as exploring the different forms of a number – Word Form, Standard Form, Base Ten, and Expanded. Students will continue exploring Place Value this week|
|Social Studies||We will finish our Civics unit this week. Students will use Flip Grid, an iPad app to explain the characteristics of a good citizen.|
|Chapel||Please join us Thursday morning at 8:10 for a K8 Chapel in the auditorium.|

Community Swim Meet On Friday, your child brought home a paper about the upcoming Community Swim Meet. If your child would like to compete, please follow the directions on the paper. Even of your child chooses not to compete, plan on coming to cheer on classmates, friends, and community members. The swim meet will begin 4 pm Monday, September 17.
T.H.I.N.K. Boot Camp There will special events and lessons this week to help prepare our K5 students to become good digital citizens. Students can wear their THINK t-shirt 1,2, 3 ,4, or even all 5 days if they so wish. We will be taking a picture Thursday after chapel, so please have them wear it at least on Thursday!
Birthday Celebrations If you would like to bring in a snack for your child’s birthday, please contact me first (email@example.com). To help control the loss of instructional time, we will celebrate birthdays at the end of the day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Monday and Friday are not available since the students are not in the classroom until dismissal time.
Swimming Last week of swimming until spring! If there is a medical reason your child can not swim, please communicate with Mr. Peleo (firstname.lastname@example.org). I do not have the authority to excuse a child from swimming or any other PE activities.
