Happy Birthday …
… to Kaylyn! She is turning eleven on Saturday.
This week our class is taking the Measures of Academic Progress, an online assessment that will show how students are doing in math, reading, and language. Please make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast, comes to school on time, and gets a good night’s sleep every night to be as well prepared for these assessments as possible.
Here’s what we’ll be Learning This Week:
Bible – We are studying Lesson 33, about how Jesus Christ is mentioned in the Old Testament hundreds – and even thousands – of years before He was born. Our Bible verse is John 3:3, which says, In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
Language Arts – We’ll practice taking notes to record important information as we read an ebook that connects with our social studies curriculum. In addition, we’ll continue to read our biography of Jackie Robinson and compare multiple accounts of the same topic as we learn about bus desegregation in America. We’ll also review verb tenses and how to use them correctly.
Spelling – Blue Group: Sort 35
Pink Group: Sort 58
Yellow Group: Sort 32
Green Group: Sort 22
Math – This week we’ll learn how to use models to find volume and how to build 3-D figures from nets.
Social Studies – We’ll learn about Clara Barton and more details about how the Civil War was fought, as well as reviewing the history of slavery in America.
