On Saturday, December 15th, Morrison will be hosting its third annual Christmas Bazaar to raise money for the Christmas Project. Our class will be holding a bake sale again! Each student is asked to help provide homemade cookies or some other baked item. (It would also be great if a few people wanted to bring plastic bags or disposable gloves for serving.) In addition, students will sign up for half-hour time slots where they will be responsible for helping sell treats at our table throughout the day. (It would be wonderful to have a few parent assistants, too! Please let me know if you’re available to help.) If your child will not be able to come and help on that day, please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks!
Here’s what We’ll be Learning This Week:
Bible – This week we are on Lesson 14, which is about Samson, who made wrong choices but was still used by God to help his people.
Our memory verse is Romans 8:38-39, which says, For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Reading and Writing – Students will learn about conjunctions and compound sentences. We’ll read a couple of short stories that take place during the time period we’re learning about in social studies, and students will write compare/contrast paragraphs about them.
Spelling – Yellow Group: Sort 17
Pink Group: Sort 40
Blue Group: Sort 10
Green Group: Sort 7
Math – We’ll practice multiplying decimals using models, by whole numbers, and by powers of ten.
Science – As we begin to study food webs, we’ll learn about decomposers and the nitrogen cycle.
Social Studies – Students will discover the importance of the Declaration of Independence in America’s history and learn about the role of women in the Revolutionary War.
