I enjoyed meeting with those of you who came to our conferences on Friday. Thank you for taking the time to come and talk to me about your children and their academic and social development! As always, feel free to email me or make an appointment through the office if you’d like to meet again.
Here’s what we’ll be Learning This Week:
Bible – We’ll be doing an overview of the book of Judges, which talks about the Israelites’ repeating cycle of sin. Our memory verse for the week is Ephesians 2:8-9, which says, For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.
Reading and Writing – Students will work on an essay about the book we have been reading, Esperanza Rising. Later, they’ll start on a historical fiction narrative that will connect with what we’re learning in social studies. We’ll also learn how to use apostrophes correctly.
Spelling – Blue group: Sort 7
Green group: Sort 4
Yellow group: Sort 14
Math – We’ll review this chapter before we take the test. The next chapter is about adding and subtracting decimals. We’ll learn to round decimals and estimate sums and differences.
Social Studies – Students will learn how the colonies progressed along the road to war as the colonists rebelled against England.
Science – We’ll learn about plants and their needs, including how they perform photosynthesis, and about what hydroponics is.
