We started out with a crowd breaker, where we did some movement activities together. Then we split into three groups with three activities. One group helped their child push a large ball around a circle. Another group helped their child throw a bean bag at empty pop cans and try to knock them down. The third group helped their child roll a small bowling ball at some plastic pins After these activities, the sixth graders sang interactive songs, told a story with motions and had students play guitar and violins. From this visit we are again reminded how these students can find joy in simple things in life. All the effort in planning and preparing is worth it when we see their smile.
