The Daniel Plan

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God”—1 Corinthians 10:31

We strive to glorify God in all aspects of our lives, and the Bible makes it very clear that God cares about our health. After all, God created our bodies, Jesus died for our bodies, and the Spirit lives in our bodies. So why should we not take care of our bodies? One of the most important journeys of our lives is before us: a journey towards better health to improve our relationships with God, each other, and ourselves.

To stay on the road to a healthy lifestyle, we are following a program called the The Daniel Plan. Pastor Rick Warren, founder of the Daniel Plan, based it on the Biblical story of Daniel who refused to eat the king’s gourmet food and ate only healthy foods with his friends. Daniel practiced a healthy lifestyle in the five key areas of the Daniel Plan: Faith (Relying on God’s power), Food (Eating foods that glorify God), Fitness (Managing your energy), Focus (Thinking healthy thoughts), and Friends (Getting better together).

Morrison students on the Daniel plan participate in weekly small group meetings to encourage each other on their journey and discuss ways they can improve their health. Ten events are scheduled throughout the year to help students put the Daniel Plan into practice. These events include a hiking trip, an outdoors worship night, a salad sale, and more. Through this program, students will learn to live a fulfilling life that is pleasing to God. Are you ready to take this next step in your faith?
